GSN Planet Announces Esteemed Judges for the 2023 Sustainability Awards
July 31, 2023 – GSN Planet, the leading nonprofit trade association supporting sustainability initiatives within the spa and wellness industry, is thrilled to announce the distinguished panel of judges for the highly anticipated 2023 Sustainability Awards.
The GSN Sustainability Awards serve as a prestigious platform, honoring outstanding accomplishments and innovations in sustainability within the wellness sector. These awards celebrate the commitment and dedication of individuals and businesses in driving positive change towards a greener and more socially responsible future.
This year’s panel of judges includes a remarkable lineup of experts from diverse sectors, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to evaluate the nominees:
- Gina Preziosa: Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shankara.
- Nikos Kouremenos: Education & Project Manager for Raison d’Etre.
- Julie Keller Callaghan: Journalist, Co-Founder of Well Defined.
- Bob Henry: Author, Founder of RDH Architects.
- Mary Bemis: Founder & Editorial Director of Insider’s Guide to Spas.
- Kent Richards: Corporate Operations Director for Six Senses Spas.
- Darlene Fiske: Owner of The Fiske Group, Co-Founder of S’Well The Agency.
- Tara Grodjesk: President of Tara Spa Therapy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Earthlite Spa and Wellness Products, Co-Founder of Green Spa Network.
- Lisa Jacobs: Founder of The Collective Well, Co-Founder of RockDaisy.
- Rona Berg: Author, Contributor to Forbes.
- Bill Barczy: Director of Sales and Marketing for Palmate.

This year, GSN Planet will showcase three outstanding awards:
Sustainable Spa/Wellness Facility – The Michael Stusser Award – Recognizes a spa property or wellness facility that fully incorporates sustainability in its business strategy, management processes, spa facility, resource management practices, procurement, programming, treatments, staff, and community engagement practices.
Sustainable Innovator – The Tara Grodjesk Award – Acknowledges a product company, equipment supplier, distributor, or individual who fully incorporates sustainability in their purpose and management processes, operational practices, raw materials sourcing, packaging, and employee and community impact, with special attention to innovation.
Sustainable Newcomer – The Tracie Wertz Award – Celebrates a spa property, product company, equipment supplier, distributor, or individual who recently embarked on a sustainability journey, showcasing exceptional attitude towards environmental conservation and social upliftment, and achieving significant sustainability goals in a relatively short period and/or with a restricted budget, or making a significant contribution in a specific sustainability field.
The submissions for the 2023 Sustainability Awards are open until August 31, 2023. The panel will announce three finalists per category on September 30, 2023. The ultimate winners will be determined through community voting, scheduled to take place from October 1 to October 20, 2023.
The grand announcement and awards ceremony will take place during the GSN Sustainability, Buyers & Community Summit (formerly GSN Buyers Conference), set to occur on October 22-25, 2023, at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
